There are a few important steps that you need to take, whether you have led with us before or not. Firstly, please look at our So you’re thinking of volunteering… page if you haven’t done so already. Once you have read this over, please talk to someone at your church and pray through whether it is right for you to serve at either Lighthouse or Lighthouse Taster this summer. If you have decided that it is the right thing for you, there are a few more steps you need to go through.
If you are a returning leader (i.e. you served on the same Lighthouse Venture in 2011 as you are volunteering to serve on in 2012), then please fill in this form and send it to the overall leader of whichever Venture you’ve chosen, Taster or Full.
If you are a new leader or did not serve on the same Lighthouse Venture in 2011 as you are volunteering to serve on in 2012, then please fill in this other form and send it to the overall leader of whichever Venture you’ve chosen, Taster or Full. If you have not already done so, it would also be helpful if you could contact the overall leader of the Venture you have chosen to introduce yourself. [Link to email/phone numbers]
Once we have received your form, Ventures will send you a CRB form to complete if necessary. Ventures cannot accept CRBs issued through other organisations, and CRBs issued through them need to be renewed every three years. They are, however, valid for any CPAS Venture you serve on in that time. It is important that this form is completed and returned as soon as possible, as we may not be able to accept you as a leader if your Disclosure has not been issued before the start of the Venture.
In order to keep the prices as low as possible and to enable as many children as possible to have access to Lighthouse holidays, We ask all leaders to make a donation equivalent to the brochure price of our Venture. If this is going to be a problem for you, then please don’t give up as your time is still more valuable to us than your money! There are several good ideas on this Ventures web page, including spreading the cost by standing order and asking your church to help with some of the amount. Each Venture will have its own treasurer, whose details will be given out after Easter, and who will be happy to talk through any issues regarding donations.
We will be having a team day, probably in early July (details to be published before Christmas) and we ask leaders to arrive at the Venture a day before the children do. Each of these days is important to help you prepare for Lighthouse both spiritually and practically as well as for the team to get to know one another, and for us to give you important information which you need in order to lead. It is therefore essential that you are able to attend at least one of these days, and we would recommend that you are able to attend both. Please contact the overall leader of your chosen Venture, Taster or Full if you are unable to attend these days (even if you have led at Lighthouse before)
Finally and most importantly please keep praying, for your own involvement, for your co-leaders, especially the senior team planning even now, and for the children you’ll be getting to know much better during a week next August. And please let your church and Christian friends know what you’re planning to do, asking them also to pray for you and all at Lighthouse.
